Breast Implant Fillers
Breast implants are plastic shells that can be filled with either saline or silicone gel. Both substances have been approved by the FDA and are safe for use in breast implants. Saline implants are easily adjustable; to attain larger or smaller breasts, saline can be removed or added to the implants without removing the implant itself. Some women find that silicone gel implants have a more natural feel, but they have to be replaced when a different size is desired.
Breast Implant Shapes
Breast implants come in two shapes: round and teardrop. Teardrop-shaped implants are also called anatomical implants. They tend to have a more natural appearance than round implants. But depending on your natural breast shape, round implants might be a better choice, and some women prefer the high-profile appearance of round implants. It's all a matter of preference.

Breast implants can be smooth or textured. Scar tissue can occasionally build up around smooth implants, a fact which led researchers to develop a textured alternative. Textured implants have a thicker shell than smooth implants, and some women claim that they can feel a difference between the two.
