There are a greater variety of skin renewal procedures than ever before. To reduce the appearance of wrinkles, some people choose BOTOX® Cosmetic while others choose injectable dermal fillers. Lip Implants are the solution for permanent lip enhancement. Laser skin resurfacing is another popular choice. But those aren't the only procedures you can choose from. Let's take a look at some of the other ways you can restore your youthful appearance and improve the quality of your skin: laser skin tightening, IPL, and microdermabrasion. Contact our Austin practice for more information, or to schedule a consultation with Dr. Bill Davis.
We now have a safe, definitive solution for permanent lip enhancement. This implant is made of a soft, solid silicone elastomer that cannot rupture of deflate, but, can be easily removed at any time. When you are ready for subtle lip enhancement without repeated lip injections, Dr. Davis can help. This procedure is done in the office surgery area and takes about 30 minutes using local anesthesia.

More patients are turning to laser skin tightening as their treatment of choice. That's because of the relatively low cost, minimal pain, and lack of downtime associated with this procedure. A laser is used to heat up the natural collagen beneath the patient's skin. This causes the collagen to shrink and contract, stretching the skin's surface taut.
In addition to its other benefits, laser skin tightening produces permanent results. The very best results are produced by undergoing two or three treatments spaced about a month apart. If you would like more information about laser skin tightening, contact our Austin practice (serving Round Rock, Georgetown, and the surrounding Texas communities).
IPL, or Intense Pulsed Light, is a quick photofacial procedure that constricts the collagen and blood vessels beneath the patient's skin. This minimizes redness and the appearance of mild to moderate lines. It has been used to treat acne and rosacea in addition to sun damage and age lines.
IPL treatment is tailored to each patient's needs and skin type. IPL is administered over the course of five treatments, three weeks apart. Most patients experience very minimal discomfort during the procedure, though redness and swelling are common after-effects. These typically fade within 10 days. Patients can return to work almost immediately after their treatment, and resume their normal daily activities. Many of our patients (hailing from Austin, Round Rock or Georgetown) choose IPL because of the minimal downtime.
Microdermabrasion is an aggressive skin resurfacing procedure that involves the use of a diamond-edged wheel to scrape away the top layers of the skin. Scars and fine lines are carefully removed, revealing smoother, younger-looking skin. A topical anesthetic is applied to the face before the procedure is done, and the patient is also given a sedative for their comfort. Scabbing, redness, and swelling are common after-effects, though we will give you medications to ease you through your two-week recovery phase.
