Austin Rhinoplasty – Austin Plastic Surgeon Specializing in Rhinoplasty (nose jobs)

People are often concerned with the size and shape of their noses. This makes sense; the nose is, after all, the central focus of the face. If it is overly large, small, or crooked, it can cause social distress and even low self-esteem. Millions of people with imperfect noses have chosen to undergo rhinoplasty, otherwise known as a "nose job." Contact Dr. Bill Davis, serving Austin, Round Rock, Georgetown, and beyond, to discuss rhinoplasty in greater detail.

Nose jobs can reduce the size of a nose, refine the nostrils, straighten a crooked nose, or remove bumps and slopes from the bridge of the nose. Sometimes only slight modifications are needed to balance out a person's face. Other times, extensive reconstruction is needed following an injury or accident. People with congenital facial deformities have also benefited from rhinoplasty. An appointment with Dr. Davis at our Austin facility will be helpful in determining your candidacy for the procedure.

Before Rhinoplasty Surgery

Before your surgery, you'll have the chance to sit down with the surgeon and discuss your goals, expectations, and concerns. Together, the two of you will decide on a nose shape that is most flattering for your face. Your medical history will be discussed to rule out any conditions that would make you an unsuitable candidate for rhinoplasty. If you're in good health and have realistic expectations for the surgery, there should be no problem. Generally, rhinoplasty patients should be 15 years old or older so that their noses have reached their maximum growth. This consideration does not apply in cases involving facial reconstruction or the correction of breathing difficulties.

The Rhinoplasty Surgery

On the day of surgery, you'll be given a general anesthetic. The surgeon will make a small incision beneath the tip of your nose or inside your nostril. Then he will lift the skin and sculpt the bone and cartilage that forms the shape of your nose. Extra skin will be removed if necessary, and the incisions will be closed. For more details on the rhinoplasty surgery, please contact our Austin office, serving Round Rock, Georgetown, and the surrounding communities.

After Rhinoplasty Surgery

Bruising around the eyes, swelling, and a feeling of stuffiness in the nose can be expected following rhinoplasty. The worst of the symptoms should subside within 10 to 14 days. Most patients consider the post-operative pain to be quite mild, but a prescription pain reliever can be prescribed if necessary. Of course, Dr. Davis and our staff will be there for you every step of the way to make sure you're comfortable and safe.
